Most guides to Loutraki lump the casino, the thermal spa and the beaches in with everything else and call it a day. This one doesn’t. If you already know you want to swim or take the waters, our Loutraki travel guide<\/a> and our guide to the beaches<\/a> have you covered. What follows are the five day-trip and evening options that get asked about once someone has already ticked off the seafront. All five sit within roughly a 30-minute drive of central Loutraki, so you can usually combine two of them without losing a whole day to the road.<\/p>\n

The Corinth Canal, and jumping off the old bridge<\/h2>\n

The Corinth Canal is the closest sight to Loutraki and free to see (our full guide to the Corinth Canal<\/a> covers the engineering, the submersible bridges and the current shipping status): pull over at the old road bridge near Isthmia and watch the odd ship or yacht thread through the cut below. If you want to do more than watch, Zulu Bungy<\/a> runs a bungee-jumping platform from that same bridge. A jump with a GoPro video costs \u20ac100; add a drone shot and it’s \u20ac130. You need to be 18 or over (15 to 18 is allowed with a parent present) and weigh between 45 and 105 kg, and the operator runs a live open\/closed calendar rather than a fixed weekly schedule: jumps generally run 10:00 to 18:00, but check zulubungy.com before you build a day around it.<\/p>\n

One thing we won’t do is quote you a jump height. Plenty of tour listings print one, but the operator’s own site doesn’t publish a figure for the drop, so any exact number you see elsewhere is somebody’s estimate, not Zulu Bungy’s.<\/p>\n

Heraion of Perachora<\/h2>\n

Past the lake, on the cape by the Melagavi lighthouse, sits the Heraion of Perachora<\/a>, a sanctuary to the goddess Hera dating to the 6th century BC; we cover it, the lagoon and the lighthouse in our guide to Lake Vouliagmeni and the Perachora peninsula<\/a>. Entry is free, and unlike the fenced sites further south there’s no fixed opening timetable. It’s an open coastal site you can walk into more or less whenever, aside from 25 March, when it closes like most Greek archaeological sites do that day. That openness cuts both ways. There’s no ticket booth, no shade and nowhere to buy water, so it rewards visitors who come prepared rather than expecting facilities. It’s also the quietest stop on this list, and honestly that’s most of the appeal.<\/p>\n

Ancient Corinth and Acrocorinth<\/h2>\n

About half an hour from Loutraki, Ancient Corinth<\/a> and its hilltop citadel Acrocorinth are usually paired into one day. The archaeological site and museum run on a schedule that shifts through the season: 08:00\u201319:00 from 1 to 30 April, 08:00\u201320:00 from 2 May to 31 August, 08:00\u201319:30 in the first half of September, 08:00\u201319:00 for the rest of September, 08:00\u201318:30 in early October, and 08:00\u201318:00 from 16 October onward. It’s closed on 1 January, 25 March, Orthodox Easter Sunday, 1 May and 25\u201326 December, and free to enter on 6 March, 18 April, 18 May, 28 October, the last weekend of September, and the first and third Sunday of each month between November and March. We’re deliberately not quoting a ticket price for the regular season (the official site doesn’t publish one in a form we’re confident repeating), so check the current rate on the day.<\/p>\n

Acrocorinth<\/a>, the fortress on the hill above it, is free to enter and open 08:30 to 15:30 every day of the year, summer included. That’s worth spelling out because several well-known travel sites list Acrocorinth as open until 8pm in summer, matching Ancient Corinth below it. It isn’t, according to the Greek Ministry of Culture’s own listing, and turning up at 5pm expecting to get in will leave you at a locked gate rather than a sunset view.<\/p>\n

Monastery of Osios Patapios<\/h2>\n

The monastery sits above Loutraki at the top of a long stone stairway (sources disagree on the exact step count, so we’re not going to invent one), and the climb is part of the experience rather than an obstacle to it. Entry is free, as at any working Orthodox monastery, and modest dress is expected; if you show up in shorts or a strappy top, wraps are handed out at the entrance. Hours are typically split into a morning block and an early-evening block in summer, but they shift with the church calendar and the resident monks’ routine, so it’s worth calling ahead rather than driving up on spec.<\/p>\n

An evening that isn’t the casino<\/h2>\n

Ask most guides what to do in Loutraki after dark and they point straight at the casino. Fair enough \u2014 it’s there, entry is free for anyone 21 or over with valid photo ID, and the practical rules (no swimwear, shorts allowed only until 18:00) matter if you’re planning to walk over from the beach; we cover that side of it fully in the Loutraki travel guide<\/a>. But it isn’t the only evening option, and for a lot of our guests it isn’t the one they end up choosing. The seafront promenade fills up after sunset with families and couples walking off dinner, the tavernas along it stay open late into the night, and the thermal spa runs sessions year-round if you’d rather soak than gamble \u2014 again, full details are in the travel guide. Some of the best evenings guests tell us about are the quiet ones: nothing booked, dinner on the terrace, the day’s plan already ticked off.<\/p>\n

Who this isn’t for<\/h2>\n

If your idea of a Greek holiday is resort buffets and a swim-up bar, most of this list will feel like homework. The Heraion has no shade and no snack stand. Acrocorinth means climbing a hill in the heat for a view rather than being delivered to a polished visitor centre. And if bungee jumping sounds like a hard pass rather than a highlight, you can skip Zulu Bungy entirely and just watch from the bridge \u2014 nobody will think less of you for it.<\/p>\n

Base yourself in Loutraki<\/h2>\n

Staying in a private villa in Loutraki puts every one of these within a half-hour’s drive, and most of them a good deal closer. What is the best day trip from Loutraki?<\/h3>\n

Ancient Corinth combined with Acrocorinth is the single best half-day trip from Loutraki, since they’re about 30 minutes apart by car and cover ancient and medieval history on the same outing. Note that Acrocorinth closes at 15:30 year-round, so visit it before or right after Ancient Corinth rather than saving it for late afternoon.<\/p>\n

How much does the Zulu Bungy jump at the Corinth Canal cost?<\/h3>\n

Do you need to pay to visit the Heraion of Perachora or the Monastery of Osios Patapios?<\/h3>\n

Neither charges an entrance fee. The Heraion has no ticket booth or fixed opening hours at all, aside from being closed on 25 March, while the monastery asks only for modest dress and provides wraps at the entrance if you arrive underdressed.<\/p>\n
